Eighteen year old Afiegu Tarawally is currently on the run after he accidentally Killed his herbalist uncle who was trying to end his life over property issues.
In an interview with this medium Afiegu disclosed that he had received inhumane treatment from his deceased uncle and wife since he lost his parent a year ago.
“I was living with my parents and only sister. My father being the eldest son of the family had all their family properties under his watch. My deceased uncle Bangalie Tarawally, a herbalist working for big politicians in the country had over the years fight my father over a cocoa farm land. For years on end the two brothers clashed bitterly as to who owns the said cocoa farm land. In 2021, I lost my parents and only sister to food poison, I only survived because I was in school when they ate the food.”
“After my parents demise, my deceased uncle took me in. For over a year I was locked up in a fence compound, forcefully dropped out of school and was meted with inhumane and degrading treatments. I barely eat once a day. On one occasion, I overheard my uncle and his wife discussing on how to get rid of me like they did to my parents and sister. I had no one to talk to, I was only hoping for an escape route one day.”
“On 20th December, 2022; I was in my room when I saw my uncle wrapped his face with a white towel holding some dangerous items used in a traditional herbalist shrine. He attacked me with the intention to kill, I had to fight to save my life, in the process I pushed him off my body. He hit his head on the bed and ceased breathing. I ran out of the compound and went away. Two day later I heard of his death through a friend who informed me that a report was filed against me to the police for his death and that the authorities are searching for me. I had no option but to escaped the country to save my life.”
โI did not intend to kill anyone, I was only just trying to save my life from a man whom I heard talking about how he killed my family and his intentions to do same to me.โ
“Going back to Sierra Leone is like signing my death certificate. I have no intention to go back because my life would seriously be in danger.” He concluded.
During our investigation, this medium discovered from neighbors that Afiegu was really going through hell in his uncleโs house as he was seen as the only threat blocking his way to properties left in his name.
This medium also discovered that the Sierra Leone Police published a wanted release offering huge ransom to who ever will produce Afiegu to the authorities. All efforts by this medium to get the side of the police proved abortive.
