A strongman of the main opposition APC party in Tonkolili district, Alusine Abdulai Sesay, has tendered his letter of resignation from the party effective 20th December, 2022. He plans to join the ruling SLPP.
Before his resignation, Mr. Sesay held several positions in the APC party including District Youth Leader and Assistant Secretary of the party in Tonkolili district. Between 2013 and 2018 he served as District Council Chairman in Tonkolili.
In an interview with the Global Times last night, Mr. Sesay noted that, the APC party was no longer serving the interests of its members. โI cannot belong to a party that does not protect the interests of especially its grassroots supportersโฆI am looking at other options nowโ, he said. But he refused to rule out the possibility of joining the ruling SLPP.
