In an exclusive interview with the Expo Magazine, the Director General of NCRA has disclosed that, the new ECOWAS Identity Card that is about to be launched next week by His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio “Will enhance free movement of ECOWAS citizens within the ECOWAS region”.

Mr. Mohamed Massaquoi noted that once you have the ECOWAS ID card, you do not need a passport to travel within the ECOWAS region.

The NCRA DG mentioned the good news that the production, distribution and issuance of ID cards would not be centralized in Freetown. “Now, we would be moving the ID service to the doorstep of the people for they could be accessed in any part of the country…We now have the infrastructure in all the districts and we are looking forward to a smooth roll out”, the NCRA Director General said.

The ECOWAS Identity Card would be issued on demand and would be valid for a period of one year.
