Anticipating victory in the forthcoming multitier elections, President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio on Thursday, 9th February 2023, in consultation with the Sierra Leone Peopleโ€™s Party (SLPP) National Delegates Conference, endorsed and announced VP Dr Mohmed Juldeh Jalloh and Mohamed Gento Kamara as running mate and Freetown City Council (FCC) Mayoral Candidate respectively.

Showing off the hands of the two political heavyweights in the air at the Aberdeen roundabout, President Bio told the world that SLPP had a Presidential candidate, a running mate and a mayoral candidate for the FCC which makes it the only political party ready for the June 24 general elections.

He therefore called on the electorate to cast their votes for the SLPP which he dubbed as โ€œthe winning teamโ€.

Mohamed Gento Kamara commonly known as “Gento”, he said, is young and an innovative man who has inspired and changed the lives of hundreds and thousands of youths in the country and that voting him in as the Mayor of FCC is the best decision for the good of the capital city.

Prior to his endorsement as the mayoral candidate for FCC under the ruling SLPP ticket, Gento had stolen the show of the partyโ€™s 13th National Delegates Conference with hundreds and thousands of people (mostly the youths) who mobilized and took to the streets in jubilation and demonstrating their support for him.

The conference, that was said to hear the report card of the SLPPโ€™s five years achievements, also turned out to be a mass jubilation and demonstration of support for Gento’s mayoral bid in the city.
