During the visit of President Dr Julius Maada Bio to Kono District few days ago, a total of ten Councilors representing the C4C party in the Kono District Council, officially declared to join the ruling SLPP at a jam-packed meeting at the Koidu Community Centre.
Speaking to Global Times, the hard working SLPP Kono District Chairman Safea Leslie Moiwa said that, the people of Kono are ready to pay back President Bio and the SLPP government for bringing development to their door step.
He said, whenever President Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio visit Kono, there is always a good package for the people. As you can see, President Bio has turned the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern SLPP office in the district for the first time in the history of the party. While First Lady Fatima Bio distributed over 7000 free sanitary pads to school going girls, which came as an additional boost to the governmentโs free quality education.
The Chairman also confirmed that he is in talks with different stakeholders from different political parties in the district and very soon a good number of them will join the SLPP. He also said his executive members are firmly behind him to make sure that they sensitize the people of Kono to vote massively for President Bio and the SLPP in the forthcoming general elections due to the developmental move undertaken by President Bio and his government.
He further said they are firmly monitoring the ongoing developmental projects within the district such as the almost completed Kono University of Science and Technology, the Kono/Guinea border road project, the 24 hours electricity service and many more.
Speaking to one of the defected C4C Councilors, he said with the humility and open mindedness demonstrated by chairman Moriwa coupled with the developmental move by the President,ย the government and First Lady Fatima Bio to his people he has no alternative but to join the SLPP bandwagon of development for Kono.
