Sierra Leoneโ€™s resident Honorary Consul in Lebanon, Pa Hashim Hussein Hashim, yesterday addressed Sierra Leoneans residing in Lebanon, following the tragic death of five Sierra Leonean citizens in a devastating fire accident in the Bouchrieh Dam region of Lebanon on 11th March, 2023. Two others with critical burns are currently hospitalized in Lebanon.
Pa Hashim Hashim expressed profound and sincere condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of himself and the Government of Sierra Leone.
He assured them that His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Dr Julius Maada Bio is very concerned about the welfare of every Sierra Leonean living and working in Lebanon and has called on him to ensure that, the fatal fire incident is properly and speedily investigated to get to the bottom of it.
The Honorary Consul assured Sierra Leoneans resident in Lebanon that he would do everything humanly possible to protect them in Lebanon. Pa Hashim Hashim has visited the two Sierra Leoneans currently hospitalized in Lebanon and assured that they would be fully supported until they recover and leave hospital.
The Government of Sierra Leone has promised to repatriate the corpses to Sierra Leone for a dignified burial after the Police investigation is completed in Lebanon.
