No fewer than 300 party members have dumped the main opposition APC party for the ruling SLPP in Biriwa Chiefdom, Bombali district.
Led by their spokesman, Foday Koroma alias Koloto, they disclosed that they were leaving the APC to join the SLPP because of the good things that President Brig.(Rtd) Julius Maada Bio has done for the country in less than five years in office.
They hail from villages like Kantirin, Timbondeh, and Kathantha all in the Biriwa Chiefdom, Bombali district.
Their spokesman said that they were tired of unfulfilled and/or broken promises made to them by the leadership of the APC party since 2007.
They promised to vote massively for President Bio and the SLPP in June 2023 to avoid a run-off between President Bio and his main challenger, Samura Kamara of the APC.
They were received by the Chairman of the Board of Authority of NCRA (National Civil Registration Authority) Sorie Fofana and the leading SLPP MP aspirant for Constituency 035 in Bombali district, Nfamara Kallon in Manjoro town on Prayday, 21st April, 2023. The decampees described the APC party leadership of being arrogant, dishonest, and deceitful.
Nfamara Kallon described their decision to join the SLPP as the right one.ย He encouraged them to vote massively for President Bio on 24th June, 2023 to avoid a run-off. He reminded them of the SLPP motto: โOne Country, One Peopleโ.
They asked the SLPP MP aspirant for Constituency 035, Nfamara Kallon and Sorie Fofana of NCRA to support them with motor bikes and solar street light. Both men promised to deliver their message to the leadership of the party in Freetown.
The declaration ceremony took place in Manjoro alongside the kick-off ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Sicco Trophy 2023. The trophy is named after its organizer and main financier, Sorie Fofana (Sicco) of the Global Times Newspaper and Chairman of the NCRA Board of Authority.
President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio has promised to visit Manjoro before the June 24, 2023 multi-tier election.
