In January 2006, Charles Francis Margai, formed the PMDC after he left the SLPP (Sierra Leone Peoples Party).
In the 2007 run-off election between the SLPP candidate Solomon Ekuma Berewa and the APCโ€™s Ernest Bai Koroma, Charles Francis Margaiโ€™s PMDC forged an alliance with the APC party which led partly to the defeat of Solomon Berewa.
The relationship between President Ernest Bai Koroma and Charles Francis Margai hit rock bottom after President Koroma ordered the arrest and detention of Charles Margai over a land dispute with the First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma. All PMDC Ministers got fired from the alliance government headed by President Koroma.
Charles Margaiโ€™s political fortunes took a steep downward plunge after the 2012 elections. He never recovered from it until 16th April, 2018 when he was appointed as Attorney General and Minister of Justice by President Brig. (Rtd) Dr Julius Maada Bio. Barely three months after his appointment as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Charles Margai was sacked on 18th June 2018 without any official reason.
Recently, Charles Margai (PMDC) announced an alliance with the APC party ahead of the June 24, 2023 multi-tier elections.
Many people now see Charles Margai as a failed politician and his PMDC as a dead horse. Charles Margai can no longer recover from his political demise especially after he was sacked as Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
Nobody knows why Charles Margai who was locked up at the CID Headquarters on the orders of the APC Leader and Chairman, President Ernest Bai Koroma has decided to openly back the APC Presidential candidate for the June 24, 2023 elections. Charles Margaiโ€™s magic charm has failed him. He is no longer relevant in the politics of Sierra Leone. He has become a spent force. His best bet would have been, to return to the SLPP, without any pre-condition. Politically, he is finished.

After serving as Vice President for seven years, Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, was sacked and expelled from the APC party, the party under whose ticket he rose to the position of Vice President.
After the formation of the C4C Party in December 2017, VP Sam Sumana became the Partyโ€™s flag bearer for the March 2018 general elections.
The APC refused to pay Sam Sumanaโ€™s end of service benefits, his security detail was withdrawn and his diplomatic passport seized at the Lungi International Airport. During a political rally in Port Loko, VP Sam Sumana and his supporters were attacked and tear-gassed by APC supporters dressed in Police uniforms.
After the 2018 elections, VP Sam Sumana returned to the APC, and attempted to vie for the position of flag bearer of the party. He was disqualified from contesting because he had unresolved issues with his membership of the APC Party.
Some people, especially his Kono people, are wondering why VP Sam Sumana decided to return to the APC party after the way he was maltreated by the party in 2014.
VP Sam Sumanaโ€™s best bet would have been to maintain his membership of the C4C Party under whose ticket he contested as a Presidential candidate in 2018.
Both politicians have a mountain to climb. It would be very difficult for them to recover their political clout and relevance. Both men are finished politically.
