A police search is underway for five Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and three Sierra Leone Police (SLP) personnel working to undermine the peace and tranquillity of the state and unleash violence on peaceful citizens.
Speaking at the weekly Government press conference yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu announced that the Police were on the search for five RSLAF personnel including two middle-level personnel and three non-commission personnel; and three SLP personnel including two constables.
Already, the SLP had made several arrests including eight middle-level (Lieutenant to Major) RSLAF personnel; six non-commissioning officers; two current serving members of the SLP, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, and two civilians, according to Mr Sellu.
Following the arrests, Mr Sellu said the suspects were assisting the Police with the investigations but he did not give details of those arrested nor those being hunted.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police assured of being fully in charge of the situation but called on citizens to alert the Police of any suspicious movements.
