The High Court of Sierra Leone presided over by Justice Hannah Bonnie yesterday extended the interim injunction earlier slammed on the Standard Chartered Bank.

Lawyer Osman Jalloh from Lambert Partner and Co, yesterday made appearance for and on behalf of the defendant Standard Chartered Bank to proceed with the matter before the court after the interim injunction earlier ordered against the above named Bank in Sierra Leone expired. The matter has been adjourned to the 22nd August 2023.

A total of fifty two (52) staff members employed by the Standard Chartered Bank are before the Court as Plaintiffs in a civil matter, after they learnt that the said Standard Chartered Bank had been sold to another private commercial bank operating in Sierra Leone, Access Bank.

Lawyer Ransford Johnson from the OJP Legal is representing the Plaintiffs in the civil action with regards benefit and other entitlements due them.

The 22nd of August, 2023 will determine the hearing of the substantive action before the court, or whether the interim injunction ordered will continue.

The Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations is also looking into the matter in order to protect workers’ rights and their entitlements.
