Making his formal address at the Government of Sierra Leone retreat held at Bintumani Hotel in Freetown yesterday on public service systems for Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers, the Honorable Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh urged Cabinet Ministers and heads of MDAs to work as a team in the spirit of mutual respect and trust.
The Honourable Vice President made this plea while delivering his statement on the importance of agency factor in supporting the delivery chain. Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh stated that states and governments are measured by their capacity to deliver services to their people.
According to him โWhile the public service is a mechanism of delivery, the social relations binding political and administrative heads is vital to the success of delivering as a teamโ.
VP Dr Juldeh Jalloh underscored the importance of exercising authority with a human face citing the need to collaborate and treat co-workers with respect.
He called on government officials to be attentive to the needs of their respective sector clients such as telecommunications, petroleum and manufacturing companies. He reminded them that โtechnical competence gives you a job but what keeps you in the job is, social intelligenceโ which is rooted in the concrete realities of our social make up including respect and trust.
