Colonel Retired Muana Brima Massaquoi, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Sierra Leone, has led a three-man delegation to Egypt. The Minister and his accompanying delegation were warmly welcomed by his Egyptian counterpart, Major General Mohamed Mohamed Abdellah, Assistant Minister of Defense for Operations and head of the Egyptian delegation at the Egyptian Armed Forces Operations Authority on Sunday, 3 September 2023.

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Sierra Leone is in Egypt on an official visit to Egyptian Armed Forces that will last for five days.

Discussions during the meeting covered a number of issues of common interest in light of the areas of military cooperation and the transfer and exchange of expertise between the Sierra Leonean and Egyptian Armed Forces.

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Sierra Leone is grateful to the Egyptians for extending the invitation and receiving the delegation in a friendly manner in relation to strengthening the mutual relations, cooperation, and collaboration between the two sides in various military fields. The Minister emphasized the readiness of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) of the Republic of Sierra Leone to expand cooperation between the two friendly countries in various military aspects.

On the Egyptian side, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Mohamed Abdellah expressed full appreciation for Sierra Leone’s response and expressed optimism that the joint committee’s aim is to exchange expertise and points of view in the framework of supporting and strengthening the bonds of military cooperation in a number of areas in relation to the future visions of both countries. He highlights that the meeting will achieve the desired benefits and bear fruit at the regional level.

Other members of the Sierra Leonean delegation included Brigadier General Abu Bakarr Conteh, Assistant Chief of Defence Staff, Training and Doctrine, Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Sadiq Silla, Lieutenant Colonel Momoh Emmanuel Luseni, Esq. Staff officer Grade 1, Directorate of Defence Legal, Ministry of Defence, Samuel Alie Kargbo and Mona Zaghloul.
