In a bid to enhance the cooperation and intellectual exchange between China and Sierra Leone Police, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone has extended an invitation to twenty five (25) personnel of the Sierra Leone Police to participate in a one month Seminar on Sierra Leone Police and China Security Cooperation in Shandong Police College, in the Eastern Province of China.
Mr. Shusen Xu, in extending the invitation to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, recalled the long standing relation between the Chinese Embassy and the SLP which he described as warm and very cordial.
He informed the IGP of the commitment of the Embassy in contributing to the capacity building effort of the SLP by supporting training of SLP personnel in diverse aspects of policing in China.
He added that equipment to set up a fully functional forensic laboratory are on the high sea and this will enable the SLP to handle cases which require forensic evidence to secure convictions.
He commended the SLP for the maintenance of Peace and security in the Country.
In his response, the IGP thanked the Chinese Embassy for making such strategic intervention in the human capacity development of SLP. He described China as an all- weather friend of Sierra Leone in general and the SLP in particular.
He expressed the hope that with the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, training packages will be provided to the SLP to enhance its service delivery.
The twenty five (25) SLP Personnel will participate in a month long of comparative study of various aspects of Policing in the two Countries. The content of the Seminar will include Police Command System, Transnational Crime Trends, Anti-Terrorism Strategy, Handling of Mass Incidents, Information led Policing, Cyber space Security network, Crime Combating Strategies, Self-defense skills, etc.
It will also include identifying areas where cooperation will be required in subsequent training with a view to improving law enforcement.
