This press can report that several voters have been rounded up by the police for reason being that they were actively involved in electoral corruption on election day, 24th June 2023, which is against the electoral laws of Sierra Leone.
The alleged electoral fraudsters were all arrested in various polling stations right across the country and are now subject to police investigation.
Among those arrested by the police is Foday Khalifa Dumereh, a Polling Agent of the main opposition All Peopleโs Congress (APC) Party in Western Area.
According to information, Foday Khalifa Dumereh allegedly connived with some voters at the polling station he was working for the latters to cast their votes in multiple ways.
The voters were said to have later ran out of luck as they were intercepted by the police and some election officials at the polling station.
During their interrogation at the polling station, they identified Foday Khalifa Dumereh as the person who masterminded the fraud. There and then, Foday was also arrested and whisked alongside with others to nearest police station for investigation.
Foday Khalifa Dumereh and others made statements to the police following which they were all charged to court to answer to the charges against their persons.
Foday and others were subsequently convicted and each sentenced to a jail term of two years.
On 26th November 2023, there was a coup attempt and during the unrest the main Male Correctional Service hosting well over one thousand five hundred inmates was broken into and several inmates including Foday Khalifa Dumereh escaped.
Foday and all others that escaped from the center have been declared wanted by the state and that a handsome reward has been set aside for those realising credible information leading to the arrest of the escaped inmates.
