The Court of Appeal has in a judgment delivered yesterday in Freetown upheld the sole Commissioner Justice Biobel Commission of Inquiry (COI) report findings against the former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
The Court has directed the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) pursuant to Section 78 sub (1) of the ACC Act to investigate the former President who is an appellant before the Court for abuse of office and abuse of his executive authority, particularly with regards to the Sewa Ground Market Project with the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT).
All four grounds of the COI Appeal by the Appellant Dr. Ernest Bai Korma failed and were struck out, and dismissed in their entirety.
The court further ordered the appellant to pay a sum of one hundred and thirty five thousand United States Dollars to the Government of Sierra Leone within seven days and bear a cost of three hundred Million old Leones cost.
Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay presided over the COI Appeal hearings together with two other Justices Alhaji Momoh Jah Steven and Adrian Fischer.
Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, Africanus Sorie Sesay and Brima Koroma represented the Appellant while Abigail Suwu Kendor and two other counsels represented the State.
