Reports reaching this newspaper state that Mr. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, formerly of Kenema city in the Easter Region of Sierra Leone, is now on the run fearing for the safety of his life after he was declared wanted by members of the dreaded Poro secret society because of what they described as his acts of abomination against the society.
According to our source, Mr. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh who was a business man buying and selling produce and cash crops, had some serious misunderstanding with some very senior members of the Poro secret society in Sengema village in the Kailahun District in the Eastern Region of Sierra Leone.
The source further explained that some time in September 2023, Mr . Mohamed Bailor Jalloh bought a lot of cacao and coffee beads which he was unable to transport to Kenema because of bad roads.
The source stated that Mr. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh approached the Chief of Sengema village to see how they can repair the road and bridge to enhance the movement of vehicles.
He disclosed that the Chief demanded that they give him the money to do the work, a suggestion that Mr. Jalloh’s boss in Kenema refused to a accept, a decision that got the Chief very angry and he vowed to make life uncomfortable for Mr. Jalloh.
He further disclosed that as a start of reprisals, the Chief prevailed on the produce agents not to buy goods for Mr. Jalloh and not to refund his money.
The source also explained that the Chief further mobilized Poro secret society members in Sengema and other villages and told them that Mr. Jalloh had been saying very bad things against the society, an act that is considered as an abomination, punishable by death.
He further explained that on 15 December, 2023, Mr. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh was physically attacked by members of the Poro secret society but he managed to narrowly escape, while two of his assistants including his elder brother, Mr. Alpha Manadu Boie Jalloh, were captured and their dead bodies found in a stream two days later with some of their body parts missing.
He further disclosed that the leaders of the society have now declared Bailor wanted and given instructions that he should be found and killed in order to appease the deity of the society.
He also revealed that some of Bailor’s family members were accused of helping him to escape and threatened with death which made them to run away fro Kenema and Kailahun and other villages were they were living.
The man further explained that the Poro secret society men have a very organized network all over the country and that all Poro societies have been alerted about the abomination which Bailor had committed against the society with instructions that they should look for him and kill him in order to cleanse the society of the abomination that he has committed.
He stressed that the Poro men have vowed that they will not rest until they find Bailor and kill him.
When this Reporter requested for an interview with the Poro men, he was informed that nobody will talk to him and that if he continued to pursue the matter, he will not like what will happen to him.
He also revealed that the Poro secret society men are still searching for Bailor and that they will never forgive him but they will kill him the day they see him in order to cleanse the land of the abomination and appease the deity of the society.
He concluded that since Bailor’s disappearance they have neither heard from him nor do they know his whereabouts.
