On Friday 9th February 2024, at the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Garment Factory, at Kingtom, the Sierra Leone Mission and Development Incorporation donated two forty-feet containers of assorted medical drugs and other medical equipment to the Sierra Leone Police.
During the handing over ceremony of the said items, Doctor John Mumuneh Konteh who doubles as the Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent of the Police Hospital gave a brief background as to how they met with the Sierra Leone Mission and Development Incorporation, thus culminating the remarkable assistance received from them.
The Programme Director of Sierra Leone Mission and Development Incorporation, Madam Catherine Kabangai Suma told the press that the organization itself was founded by a Sierra Leonean with the passion to assist deprived communities/organizations in the areas of agriculture, health and education so as to improve the well-being of citizens across the country. Adding that the said organization has been in existence for over fifteen years helping other organizations or communities, for which the SLP is no exception.
“We are very passionate about working with the SLP for more assistance as our doors are always opened”, she affirmed.
Delivering the keynote address, the Director of Human Resources, ACP Musa James who ably represented the Inspector General of Police – Mr. William Fayia Sellu, thanked the founder and staff of Sierra Leone Mission and Development Incorporation for their thought and recognition, giving the fact that the IGP has made several strides to improve on the medical conditions of all police personnel force wide.
He thanked the organization for such a remarkable gesture and in a very subtle way, requested the organisation to continue to support the SLP with more assistance in their areas of operations.
In conclusion, ACP James assured the SL Mission that the donated items will be used for their intended purpose and called on other well meaning organizations to emulate same.
Meaningful contributions were made by the Head of the Procurement Unit of the SLP – CSP Alieu Turay on the processes involved in getting the medical items and equipment out of Queen Elizabeth the II Quay and the role played by the Inspector General of Police to get same actualised.
Inspections and handing over of the donated items to ACP Musa James climaxed the ceremony.
