At 11.54pm on the 19th of September 2024 a private non-scheduled aircraft landed at FNA, without an approved landing permit.
The said aircraft has been impounded by the State Security forces and all 4 persons on board are currently in police custody.
The Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority and SLCAA
inspectors from the Directorate of Flight Safety Standards and Aviation Security
were on site to assist in the initial interrogation of all onboard the aircraft.
Investigations are still on going and the public will be updated on the outcome.
The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority wishes to assure the public of its
commitment to the safety and security of Civil Aviation in Sierra Leone.
Accordind to reliable Police sources Three Mexicans and one Spanish national who were onboard the aircraft will be brought to Freetown on Saturday 21 September 2024 for interrogation.
