Sierra Leone’s Julius Maada Bio arrived in Glasgow on Sunday 31st October 2021 ahead of arguably the largest gathering in the history of United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP26).
Out of 47 Least Developed Countries, Sierra Leone has been chosen as 1 of 6 to meet with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on the margins of the Climate Change Conference. The selection of Sierra Leone demonstrates H.E Julius Maada Bio’s admirable leadership in the fight against climate change.
The conference formally opens today and H.E President Julius Maada Bio is expected to address the plenary tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd November 2021. H.E President Bio’s address is expected to highlight Sierra Leone’s national efforts in confronting the growing threat of climate change.
H.E Julius Maada Bio has been accompanied to the Climate Change Conference in Glasgow by a 16-man delegation and flown by Royal Jet courtesy of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
