The people of Bo on Friday 18th March 2022 endorsed the aspiring Mayoral candidate for Bo city Council, Hon. Sualiho Monyaba Koroma at a special press cocktail held at the Wizard’s Complex on Dambala Road in Bo organised by the Strategic Communications Unit.
Sualiho Monyaba Koroma is a well-known Sierra Leonean politician with over thirty years’ experience in party politics and also ten cumulative years of experience in Parliament.
At the Parliamentary level this great personality was elected Member of Parliament from 2012 -2018 after the general elections in 2018 and he was appointed by His Excellency the President Rtd Brig. Julius Maada Bio to serve on the Governance Transition Team (GTT) immediately after the 2918 elections.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of a multidisciplinary Organization, Planning Green Futures. Hon. Sualiho Monyaba Koroma is a seasoned supply chain and Project Management Consultant with vast experience working with UN Agencies UNICEF, World Food Program) including other International Non-Government Organizations and the private sector.
He is a member of several professional bodies like the Corporate Institute of Strategic Research (CISR), Abuja, Niger, International Union for Conservation of Nature 9 IUCN) among others .
Hon. Sualiho Koroma holds a Master’s degree in public administration and management.
In his keynote speech at the auspicious press cocktail, the Bo City aspiring Mayoral candidate Hon Sualiho Monyaba Koroma told his audience that his intension to bid for the Mayoral for Bo city Mayoral candidate in the forthcoming local council elections has a long history from his humble beginning in that part of the country .
Hon. Koroma said almost five years since he ended his duties as a Member of Parliament; he has again manifested interest in an another assignment–the people’s assignment to transform the city of Bo .
He said he is inspired by the felt need to usher the transformation efforts of Bo City to complement the agenda of President Bio to transform the country.
Hon Sualiho Monyaba said the generality of Section 20 of the Local Government Act 2004 clearly lays down the functions of local councils to transform the Bo city and fulfill the mandate of the municipality as contained in the Local Government Act.
He therefore forwarded a ten-point plan to serve as his mirror in the schematics of transforming the city of Bo (1) improve revenue generation through the use of data and technology,(2 )Extend the colonial boundaries of Bo city to accommodate the current growth and development trajectory,(3) Maintain healthy relationship with the central government , local stakeholders and development partners with openness, accountability and transparency (4) Strengthened public private partnership , promote greener environment and sustainability in specific areas including waste management and pollution , climate change mitigation and environmental hazards.
(5)Reposition Bo city to serve as the centre for academic excellence, culture and arts in Sierra Leone
(6) Make Bo city a destination for domestic tourism. (8) Leverage ICT to make Bo a smart city (9) make Bo city attractive for investment and manufacturing and prioritize youth empowerment, people with special needs and gender relations through quality middle manpower training.
