The National Revenue Authority (NRA) yesterday engaged the different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to introduce an automated tax collection system for Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) services including fees for birth, death, and marriage certificates, and court fines.

This move according to the NRA is to automate the non-tax revenue collection system to resolve payment verification challenges and improve the entire collection process through an online payment mobile app in addition to other reforms at the NRA such as ITAS, and ASYCUDA.

The payment modes for the non-tax revenue services include Orange Money, Afri-Money, United Bank For Africa, VISA & MASTERCARD, and Rokel Commercial Bank.

This reform will be expected to upgrade the revenue system to achieve integration and information sharing to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax payments and reports them in real-time, the Commissioner of Non-Tax Revenue at the NRA, Sheku Fadika said at Shangri La Hall during the first workshop with MDAs in Freetown.

The Senior Director of ICT at the NRA, Gerald H. P. Ganda said the system will have data integrity and will be protected from unwarranted and unauthorized access.
