Information gathered by this newspaper has revealed that Madam Sara Sesay formerly of Number 12 City Road, Wellington in the east of Freetown is now on the run fearing for the safety of her life after she was declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police on allegations that she was engaged in subversive activities and incitement against the Government of Sierra Leone.
The reports further stated that Sara is also being pursued by members of the dreaded Bondo secret society because of her campaign against the female genital mutilation that they practice on young girls and women.
It is also believed that irate anti lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) activists are also looking for her because they claim that she is a lesbian, a sexual activity that is not accepted in this country and which the community people consider as an abomination, insisting that those involved in such an unnatural sexual activity must be killed in order to cleanse the land of such a curse.
A source who lives in the community told this Reporter that both the Bondo secret society women and the LGBTQ activists have been looking for opportunities to kill Sara and cleanse the land of what they referred to as, “this unforgivable abomination”.
He also disclosed that Sara was also being pursued by the Police and members of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) because of her political activities as a member of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC).
He revealed that during the 24 August, 2019 bye election in Constituency 110 in the Western Area Rural District, Madam Sara Sesay was a Party Agent for the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) in the Constituency.
He explained that violence erupted during the election that led to the merciless beating of Sara and other APC Party Observers, who were detained for some days on allegations that they attempted to rig the elections in favour of their candidate as well as being involved in trying to obstruct the electoral process.
He also stated that the result of the election was eventually cancelled by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) on the grounds that the election was not free, fair, transparent and credible.
He further revealed that Sara was charged with offences ranging from rigging the election, obstruction of the electoral process, incitement and subversive activities against the Government, crimes that carry very long prison sentences.
When this Reporter requested for him to lead him to Madam Sara Sesay for an interview, he stated that he did not know her whereabouts after she was declared wanted by the Government, the Bondo secret society and the LGBTQ activists sometime in mid September 2019 she disappeared from the community and had neither been seen nor heard from since.
He also disclosed that he has information that unidentified people continue to visit Sara’s house in the late night hours, making threatening remarks that they will kill her the day they see her, a threat that has caused her family to abandon their house.
When this Reporter contacted the Wellington Police Station on the matter, a senior Police Officer told him that they are looking for one Madam Sara Sesay who is alleged to have been engaged in subversive activities and incitement against the government.
He revealed that while they are investigating the matter they have put a reward of twenty million Leones (Le 20,000.000.00) for anybody who will give them information that will lead to her arrest.
