Reports reaching the Global Times have indicated that a proactive police officer attached to the Falaba Bo checkpoint on the Bo Taiama Highway, Constable 18286 Patrick Mohamed Ngobeh of the Regional Office of the Bo West Police Division made a significant arrest on Friday, September 22, 2023, of 10 Ounces of substance suspected to be Kush in possession of a Freetown resident, Sheaiba Musa.
It all happened on that faithful day when Detective Police Constable Patrick Mohamed Ngobeh conducted a thorough search on the unsuspecting private car with a registration number AMP198 when attempting to pass through the Falala checkpoint on the Bo-Taiama Highway in Bo on its way to Freetown.
Speaking to the Global Times, the Police Regional Media Officer attached to the Bo West Police Division, Osman Mohamed Mansaray, informed that during the search on the said car, Police discovered a huge quantity of a narcotic substance suspected to be Kush, stating that the total amount seized was approximately 10 Ounces that led to the immediate arrest of Sheaiba Musa who claimed ownership of the illegal substance.
The suspect is currently helping the Bo Regional Police Transnational Organised Crime Unit Department (TOCU) with further investigations.
The Regional Police Media Officer said this latest arrest of Kush followed a series of substantial drug-related issues carried out by the Sierra Leone Police in the Southern Region over the past few months, noting that the police in that part of the county have been vigilant in their efforts to combat the illegal drug activities in the region under the proactive leadership of the Police Regional Commander, AIG Brima Kanneh.
According to the Police Media Officer of the Bo West Police Division, law enforcement officers continued to intensify their efforts in the fight against Kush and other related drug offences in Bo particularly and the Southern Region as a whole.
He told this medium that the recent arrest of Musa as a Kush trafficker served as a reminder of the unwavering commitment of the authorities to uphold the rule of law and protect the well-being of the community people, stating that AIG Brima Kanneh had ordered police personnel deployed at the various police checkpoints to embark on continuous and vigorous search on all vehicles plying their crossing points excluding vehicles of foreign diplomats.
