The Sierra Leone Police have embarked on persistent raids on different communities in and out of Freetown to wipe out the use of dangerous and illegal drugs.
According to Police spokesperson, on Monday 16th October 2023, based on intelligence, three Nigerians namely, Ifeanyi Joseph Onyebuchi, Ikenna Richard Godwin and Emmanuel Chukwujeckwu Onyegbu were arrested at Bailey Street with the following drugs: – Thirty-three (33) grosses of Tarmacking (Tramadol) contained in three and a half white sacks, nine (9) plastics of assorted coloured powered substance suspected to be drugs, twenty-two (22) compressed wraps of dry shredded leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, two transparent plastics containing Cystal substance suspected to be Amphetamine, a large quantity of white powdery substance contained in black plastic bag suspected to be cocaine, a loose quantity of dry shredded leaves suspected to be Kush. three machines suspected to be equipment used in the manufacturing of Ecstasy (stimulant drugs), and assorted coloured liquid substances suspected to be drugs,
The spokesman added that on Wednesday 18th October 2023, one Maada Albert Jonathan Browne of 11 Frankly Street, Calaba Town in Freetown, was arrested at Wusum Hotel, in Makeni with the following: – Five (5) gas masks, loose quantity of dry leaves in a brown paper bag suspected to be Kush, loose quantities of dry leaves in three black polythene bags. loose quantity of white powder suspected to be a hard drug, twelve (12) transparent plastic containers with the inscription ‘GULF’ containing a liquid substance suspected to be Acetone and one Electronic Scale.
He was also arrested with one hundred and fifty-six thousand five hundred New Leones suspected to be proceeds from crimes and one (1) unregistered grey Wrangler Jeep.
All of the suspects are now in detention helping the Police with their investigation.
