NCRA’s Director General Mr Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI is currently in Zambia, on the invitation of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to attend a meeting on CRVS – an effort to improve Civil Registration and Vital Statistics.
This meeting held in Lusaka, Zambia focuses on improving CRVS via the Collection of Vital Events Information through Sample Registration Systems (COVERS). This initiative aims to enhance Civil Registration, Vital Statistics and Identity Systems globally, with a special focus on Africa.
“Despite its fragmented CRVS past, Sierra Leone has significant experience and success stories in this area, and we ask that you kindly share these with the other countries gathered here,” said Dr. Nosa of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in a conversation with NCRA’s Director General, Mr. Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI.
The NCRA Director General is a well-known figure in Sierra Leone and on the African continent for his resounding work in Civil Registration, Vital Statistics and ID Management Systems covering, births and deaths (certificates), marriage, divorce and adoption, and NIN for service delivery.
Under the leadership of DG MASSAQUOI, Sierra Leone has achieved substantial progress in CRVS, gaining global recognition for the efforts. Thank you to HE President Bio and our Development Partners for the support.
The workshop brought together experts and officials from over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
Other delegates from Sierra Leone include representatives from the Ministry of Health, Statistics SL, the National Public Health Agency, and Research Institutions.
The remarkable transformation of the NCRA in just five years under the leadership of DG MASSAQUOI has been acknowledged throughout the African Continent.
Sierra Leone is on the right path to improving service delivery, the NCRA is such an example, with success in integrating Civil Registration, Vital Statistics and Identity Management, and linking it with other institutions for effective and accountable service delivery
