Sierra Leone’s Consul in Lebanon, Hashim Hashim, fondly called Pa Hashim died in Lebanon on Sunday, 22nd September, 2024.
During his tenure, Pa Hashim gave great visibility to Sierra Leone not only in Lebanon but throughout the Middle East. He was well-known and highly respected by the movers and shakers of Middle East politics, diplomacy and commerce.
Pa Hashim was a kind-hearted and a larger-than-life character. He had a Tiger heart. He never held grudges. He was a great unifier. He saw and treated everyone either as his brother or sister. He spent his entire adult life working for and helping people who had no family relationship with him.
The late Sierra Leone Consul to Lebanon died after a protracted illness. He died exactly five days after his twin brother, Pa Hassan Hussein Hashim, died in Lebanon. He was Sierra Leone’s trade envoy to the Middle East. Both men have been buried in Lebanon.
They both spent their entire adult lives in Sierra Leone. They were both based in Kenema and later partially relocated to Freetown after the end of the civil war in 2002.
Both men will be sorely missed because, they gave their best to the service of the nation and humankind.
Pa Hashim Hashim was a highly respected member of the Lebanese community in Sierra Leone. He was often consulted on issues affecting the Lebanese community in Sierra Leone because of his vast knowledge about the political dynamics in the country.
