In a dramatic turn of events, Jihad Basma and two other accused persons in the alleged stolen diamond case from Kono have had their bail rescinded and ordered to be kept in custody at the Pademba Road maximum correctional centre in Freetown.
They had fulfilled all bail conditions in August before they were released from custody at the Pademba Road correctional centre.
They have been attending court proceedings regularly. All their travelling documents have been held at the Master and Registrarโs office. They are not allowed to travel out of the country. They are required to report twice a week to the Master and Registrar. They had complied with all bail conditions set by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah-Stevens JA on 29th August, 2024.
President Dr. Julius Maada Bio had appointed PC Sheku Tejan Fasuluku from Kono to be the lead mediator in the matter between Jihad Basma and Benjamin Marrer. Marrer is claiming to be the owner of the stolen diamond.
The mediation team is yet to report formally to President Bio about the outcome of their mediation.
