The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has donated 50 tons of assorted food items to Sierra Leone, as humanitarian assistance to the West African state during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Reacting to the gesture, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Rashid Sesay, thanked the UAE leadership for the goodwill and their continuous support to his country noting that that was a testament to the tremendous progress made over the years to strengthen the friendly relationship between Sierra Leone and the UAE.

The donated items; which included rice, cooking vegetable oil, and flour; departed Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, yesterday via a special Etihad Cargo flight and is expected to arrive at the Lungi International Airport today.

It is worth noting that the UAE has been a supportive partner to the Government and people of Sierra Leone, especially in the areas of education, healthcare delivery and agriculture.
