Kamarainba Faces Another Setback

The written no-case submission presented by Lawyer Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai on behalf of former Alliance Democratic Party (APC) Leader and Chairman, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has been dismissed by the trial Judge, Justice Samuel Omodele Taylor.

The no-case submission was dismissed on the grounds that the accused persons, Marion Aruni and Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray have a case to answer.

The Judge has ordered the defense to open their case and has adjourned the matter to Wednesday, 19th May 2021 for ruling on bail application.

The written no-case submission was presented after the State Prosecutor, Umu Sumaray had close her case with over ten witnesses led in respect of a sexual penetration case of a 15-year-old girl child and a Junior Secondary School (JSS3) pupil in Kono District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone.

The accused persons are before the Sexual Offences Model High Court in Freetown, answering to seven counts related criminal charges, ranging from conspiracy, aiding and abetting to sexual penetration, contrary to the Sexual Offences Act of 2019 as amended.

The particulars on the indictment of sexual penetration point to the first accused person, Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray on allegation that in February 2020, heย  sexually penetrated a girl under the age of 18 to wit 15.

Both accused persons have since their arrest in 2020 been behind bars with no bail.
