The Congregation ceremonies at Njala University are expected to take place at the Bo mini stadium on Saturday, 10th April 2021 under the Distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio who happens to be the Chancellor of Njala University.
The congregation ceremonies for graduands of the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic years will cover postgraduate and undergraduate degrees, diplomas and certificates.
A group of postgraduate graduands from the Public Health Department of the Community Health Sciences have informed the Global Times that even though their grades have been reviewed and approved by the University Senate, they have been told that they will not be taking part in the congregation ceremonies in Bo on Saturday, 10th April, 2021. No official reason has been given by the University authorities.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of Njala University has called on the concerned graduands to approach the Registrar and Deputy Registrar for clarification.
The faith of the postgraduate graduands has been left hanging in the balance. Some of them have even threatened to disrupt the congregation ceremonies in Bo on Saturday if their status is not clarified by the Njala University authorities.
Investigations continue.
