Reports reaching this newspaper state that Mr. Amara Kamara, formerly of Kissy in the east of Freetown, is now on the run, fearing for the safety of his life after his uncle is reported to have hired thugs as well as members of the dreaded Poro Secret Society to hunt him down and eliminate him so that he can claim ownership of
property left behind by his late father, namely three houses and two vast pieces of land.

Mr. Amara Kamara

A source very close to Amara explained that Amara’s uncle, a strong member of the dreaded Poro Secret Society in their village, Moyamba, is reported to have made a false case against him that he had been engaged in challenging the Poro Secret Society and saying very bad things against the society which the Poro people regard as an abomination that is punishable by making the offender disappear without trace.
A middle aged woman who claimed to be an Aunt to Amara but does not want her name to be mentioned told this Reporter that Amara ran away from his home in Kissy in early March this year, 2021, when it became clear that his life was in danger as he was being hunted by both the members of the Poro Secret Society and some hired thugs.
She revealed that Amara was attacked one night by unknown assailants who beat him up mercilessly and left him half dead in a ditch.
“He was found there with broken limbs by some people who took him to the hospital,” she further narrated, revealing that it was while he was receiving treatment in hospital that he ran away and has never been seen.
She also stated that as unknown people continued visiting Amara’s homemaking threatening remarks, his mother, as well as his younger brother and sister, also ran away, fearing for the safety of their lives.
She stated that Amara’s uncle has vowed to hunt him until he catches him and make sure that he has been permanently neutralised and can no longer challenge him for his late father’s properties.
“The uncle has now taken over all the properties which he has claimed as his,” she narrated.
