Dear football family, dear beloved nation
On the 30th March 2021 the entire nation at home and globally was gripped with excitement and anticipation in the build-up to the Sierra Leone versus Benin encounter in the CAF African
Nations Qualifiers in Sierra Leone.
The events leading up to the announced postponement of the match until June 2021 have been the subject of intense debate and emotional speculation, which is not surprising given the nature of our shared passion for football.
Nonetheless, football is a sport governed by clear rules and a strict code of ethics.
I would like to confirm that after having received detailed reports from both federations and CAF officials assigned to the match, CAF has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Committee,
which is the competent body responsible to review matters of this nature.
While we await the decision of the Disciplinary Committee, which will be based on the RULES of the GAME, FAIR PLAY, and ETHICS, I would like to appeal to our family, both in Sierra Leone
and Benin, to refrain from any further speculation and/or inflammatory and provocative insinuations.
TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER
#Football for Peacรฉ.
