Teenager Testifies In Kamarainba’s Trial

A 16-year-old teenage girl who is also a Senior Secondary School Pupil in Koidu City, Kono district has testified in the alleged sexual penetration matter against the former Chairman and 2018 Presidential candidate of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray.

Speaking on oath from the witness box, the 12th Defense Witness (DW) said she had known the first accused person who she refers to as Mr. Mohamed Mansaray since 2018 in Kono.

According to the witness, Mr. Mohamed Mansaray always stayed at Lion Mountain Hotel in Kono. “Mr. Mohamed Mansaray is the one that has been assisting me in my schooling after my Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and through my mother Isatu Kamara, he (Mansaray) particularly purchased school materials including uniform, shoes, bags and books for me”, the defense witness said.

The witness continued that she came to know more about Mr. Mohamed Mansaray through his humanitarian support to school going children, both male and female and residents of John Kellie Street in Koidu City.

The witness told the court that he knows the alleged 15-year-old victim as a neighbor but they had never spoken to each other because there is no relationship between them.

Among those Mr. Mohamed Mansaray has been supporting, according to the witness include Hassan Kamara, Adama and many others.

Throughout that period, Mr. Mohamed Mansaray has never asked or requested me to have sexual intercourse with him or touch any of part of my body, or even taken me out of my mother’s house”, the witness confessed. She said the accused person has always advised her to take her education seriously.

The witness was not cross examined by Senior State Prosecutor Umu Sumaray, according to her (prosecutor) the witnessโ€™ evidence did not touch and concern her case.

Another Defense Witness Halima Sia Nyademoquee was also led in evidence by lead Defense Counsel, Amadu Koroma.

The 11th defense witness said she is a caretaker for Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray at his unfinished building at No.26 John Kellie Street in Koidu, and in charge of cooking food for workers at the site and supplying materials used per day for the construction work.

Madam Nyademoquee told the court that she has known Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray since 2018 during the general elections in Sierra Leone. As a care taker, the witness said she reports for duty at 6:am to 7:pm, and leaves for her residence at No. 25 John Kellie Street after the arrival of the security.

She said she knows the victim in the matter at John Kellie Street, but had no relationship with her. “Throughout myย  stay at John Kellie Street, I have never seen the alleged 15-year-old victim at the compound of Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, or even seen them together at any time between February to April 2020”, DW12 said

The witness recalls on New Yearโ€™s Day when Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray gave her money to prepare food and share among neighbors at John Kellie Street.

During cross examination by Senior State Counsel, Umu Sumaray, DW 12 said the accused person used to pay her monthly.

In response to questions poses by the prosecuting counsel, the witness said the accused (Kamarainba) came at the building site at any time, using the small gate to enter his compound.

After 7pm, the witness said she was not aware of anything taking place at the site, and since he had known the accused person she has never seen him playing with any woman in a romantic manner.

“She is my Boss and I don’t want him to get problem, and I can’t hide the truth because I have taken oath”, DW12 stated.

DW12 further confirmed a photo of the unfinished building shown to her by the prosecutor.

Both accused persons Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and Marion Lamin Arouni were denied bail, and the presiding Judge Justice Samuel Omodale Taylor has adjourned the matter for Monday 16th August 2021, at 2PM for further hearing.
