The Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has together with a delegation of administrative and professional staff of the Ministry of Energy, returned home after a thoroughly exciting, educative, informative and investor-courting weeklong visit to Ghana.

The Minister and his team were in Ghana on the invitation of PREFOS Limited, an accomplished solar street lights manufacturing company with headquarters in Kumasi, Ghana. PREFOS, which was established in 1991, has made a brand name and reputation for itself in the business of solar street lights in the sub-region.

During his time in Ghana, Alhaji Kanja Sesay and his team visited PREFOSโ€™ headquarters in Kumasi where they were taken on a conducted tour of the facility, including the warehouse, assembly rooms, showrooms, training school and administrative rooms.

The Minister of Energy held fruitful discussions with the Chief Executive Officer of PREFOS, Alexie K. Fosu, who said he was encouraged by what the Minister had said and was considering establishing a sustainable partnership with Sierra Leone in the area of solar energy.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay also used his time in Ghana to market Sierra Leoneโ€™s investment potentials in the energy sector and to woo credible investors to the country.

The Minister held productive discussions with Georges Tchokoua who is Head of Africa of the United States of America based Bechtel Financing Services Limited.

Betchel Financing Services Limited, which invests in Africa in the areas of transportation, digital infrastructure, oil and gas and chemicals and renewable energy, is currently working on projects in Senegal and Kenya.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay used his time in Ghana to hold discussions with his opposite number in Ghana and to tap knowledge from the way Ghana was handling or managing its grid and public utilities directly connected with the provision of electricity.

The Minister has returned home feeling massively fulfilled and satisfied and hoping that the knowledge and experience gained will be brought to positively bear on his aggressive and impressive energy sector reforms in Sierra Leone.
