The First Lady, Madam Fatima Maada Bio on Tuesday, 24th August 2021 made an on-the-spot visit to the construction site of the 100-bed Pediatric Hospital, being constructed at the 34 Military Hospital Wilberforce.

Madam Fatima Maada Bio was visiting the site following the turning of the sod some eight months ago. The 100-bed hospital is to support health care delivery and infrastructure in the country.

The visit is also to show her continual commitment towards the project and to assess the progress at the construction site. She said the project is at the heart of the President’s flagship program of Human Capital development in Education, Health, and food security.

During the turning of the sod ceremony in December 2020, the First Lady in her statement said that they were celebrating the Military, and the idea of the project came from her visit to the hospital in 2015 when she realized the hospital needed a facelift.

She said her commitment to the 34 Military Hospital was drawn from her husband who believes in the Military. She emphasised that the President wants the hospital to be completed and operational as soon as possible.  “We are good people and I want to encourage and inspire every Sierra Leonean to change their attitudes for the good of our country” Madam Fatima Bio said.
