Dr. Cyprain Okoro, a foreign Medical Doctor and a Gynaecologist in Freetown has been reportedly duped the sum of Le54,400,000 (Fifty four Million four hundred thousand Leones) by one Mr. Michael Tobbie another foreign national resident in Sierra Leone.
The matter is presently before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown for hearing.
Mr. Michael Tobbie, a resident of No. 11B Old Railway Line, Tengbeh Town in Freetown is before the court answering to a private criminal summons of two counts of fraudulent conversion and larceny by trick all contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
The particulars, according to court charge sheet state that the defendant, Mr. Michael Tobbie on the 11th December 2020 at his Tengbeh Town address fraudulently converted to his own use (1) life cad and registration documents of (1.1- caterpillar D8 Bull Dozer, 1.2 Volvo 120 LB Front Loader, 1.3- Iveco Truck, 1.4- Volvo Truck, 1.5- man Diesel Truck, and 1.6- Ford Tipper Van.
Mr. Michael Tobbie is alleged to have rented the heavy duty vehicle at a cost of three hundred and fifty thousand Leones a day for six months and with a total sum of recovery equals to Le54,400,000 for the purpose of work and pay knowing same to be false.
On the offence of larceny, the defendant is said to have stolen the above sum of money from the complainant, Dr. Cyprain Okoro.
The Private Criminal Summons was filed by Dr. Okoro on the 23rd July, 2021 and assigned for hearing on 6th August 2021.
The case came up on Monday 13th September 2021 but no appearance was made, and the matter has been adjourned to the 27th September 2021.
