Transport Minister Hosts Ghanaian Investors

Following a visit to Accra, Ghana recently where the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon met with a group of potential investors in the transport sector, a delegation from Ghana has arrived in Sierra Leone to explore possible areas of intervention.

A team from Obiyaa Group of Companies locally based in Ghana yesterday met with the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon in Freetown to deepen discussions which started in Accra, Ghana some two weeks ago.

The Obiyaa Group’s Chief Executive and President, George Oti Bonsu renewed his company’s determination to invest heavily in the transport sector in Sierra Leone.

He disclosed that they are looking at investing in both sea and land transportation including the purchase of sea taxis, VIP buses and even in the railway sector.

A consultant working for Obiyaa Group, Forouk Al-Wahab informed the Minister that they have other investors that are interested in other areas like construction and also education sector.

He praised the Minister for the reception accorded them and his willingness to open the transport sector to private sector investment.

The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon, reiterated President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s determination to create the enabling environment for the private sector to flourish.

Hon. Kabineh Kallon assured the visiting Ghanaian delegation from Obiyaa Group that he was prepared to remove every stumbling block in the way of genuine investors.

The team from Obiyaa Group promised to send a team of experts from the transport sector to visit Sierra Leone very soon to conduct a feasibility study in the sea, land and rail sectors.

Obiyaa Group is a leading transport operator in Ghana and several other countries. They operate the VIP bus service in several capital cities in West Africa including Accra, Lome, Lagos, etc.
