Contractors for the Bo/Kenema electricity rehabilitation project have on Friday, February 4th, 2022 handed over a consignment of 22 containers comprising over 1,000 steel poles, over 70 transformers, large quantities of cables, conductors and insulators to the Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja I. Sesay.

The Assistant Project Manager for SINOTEC, Izazwhaq while making a symbolic handing over of the items to the Energy Minister said the 22 containers which are presently in Bo are part of the 15 consignments which are expected to arrive in weeks from now.

He said they have a contractual agreement to provide 102 containers for the said project noting that they are committed to complete the project in due time.

Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay said in tandem with growing aspirations of the President Bio’s government to provide 24 hours uninterrupted power to Bo and Kenema cities, the 22 (40ft) containers and the remaining ones are part of items which are meant to overhaul the aging network for Bo and Kenema cities respectively.

He commended President Julius Maada Bio and the donors for ensuring that sufficient energy is provided for residents of the aforementioned cities but however expressed outrage over the vandalisation of energy infrastructure in Bo.

Onlookers showered profound thanks and appreciation on the Minister and the SLPP Government for their determination to provide uninterrupted power supply to Bo which had gone without it for years. They also vowed to wage war on all criminals who are busy stealing EDSA copper cable.

Meanwhile, some of the containers have been sent to Kenema, Yomandu site and Bo Air Field respectively. Overhaul of the decrepit network is already in progress in Bo and Kenema cities.
