Lawyers acting for and on behalf of Mrs. Margaret A. L. Davies (Company Secretary and Legal Adviser at Rokel Commercial Bank) have written a letter to the Global Times Newspaper, demanding an ‘unreserved apology’ to their client for the 21st March, 2022 edition that they believe seriously impugn the reputation of their client.
Mrs. Margaret Davies has told a special four-member investigating committee set up by the Board of Directors of the bank that, she was sexually harassed by the bank’s Managing Director, Walton Ekundayo Gilpin. Mr. Gilpin continues to deny the allegation.
But it has emerged that Mrs. Davies has text message exchanges between the MD and herself. One of the text messages allegedly sent to her by the MD reads, “The CIA is trying to steal my penis…I need to find a place to hide it”. Lawyers for Mrs. Davies asked, “Would you consider that as work related, particularly when it is unsolicited and very much not appreciated?”.
Lawyers for Mrs. Davies have insisted that, their client stands by her complaint and has not and will never recant her allegation of sexual harassment against her boss, Walton Ekundayo Gilpin.
Mr. Gilpin had earlier told the Global Times that Mrs. Davies was no longer pursuing her claim of sexual harassment against him. “She is pursuing a claim of harassment against me”, he said.
Documents seen by the Global Times show that Mrs. Davies has not withdrawn or recanted her allegation of sexual harassment against Mr. Gilpin.
We wish to put the record straight that Mrs. Davies stands by her claim of sexual harassment against Mr. Gilpin. She has not and does not intend to recant her claim of sexual harassment against her boss.
Investigations continue.
