EDSA Stolen Copper Wires Tendered In Court

Twenty Six Bags of copper wires belonging to the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) have been tendered at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.
The stolen assorted items were presented yesterday by exhibit Clerk of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown.
The accused person, Sheku Bah Conteh is before Magistrate Sahr Kekura answering to a criminal charge of larceny contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
The Particulars on Police Charge sheet stated that the accused person Sheku Bah Conteh on 26th January 2022, at the EDSA Sub Station in Bo stole quality copper cables valued at One Hundred and Forty Seven Million Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Leones property of EDSA.
The forth Prosecution Witness (PW4), Detective Police Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara who also doubles as exhibit clerk said in evidence that he recalled on 11th February 2022, while on duty when Detective Sergeant 10109 Francis A.J B attached to the EDSA unit at CID Headquarters handed over to him PW4 (26), bags containing copper wires, one vehicle and a switch key with registration number AWl 923.
He furthered that the said exhibits were registered against court exhibits book with serial number 19/2022.
He went on that the said exhibits have since been in the custody of the police, and have been produced, tendered and marked as exhibits E-1-26 respectively.
Defense counsel after cross examination renewed his application for bail on behalf of the accused person.
Magistrate Kekura however refused the application and has remanded the accused at the Pademba Road Maximum Male Correctional Centre. The matter adjourned to the 21st April 2022 for further hearing.
Assistant Suprinetendent of Police (ASP) Mansaray and Woman Police Inspector Kadie Taylor are prosecuting the matter.
