𝐁𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐚 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚
Principal Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Court No.1 along Pademba Road yesterday granted bail to Karamoh Kabba and fourteen others in the sum of one hundred million Leones on their third appearance after listening to the evidence of the prosecution witness.
All fifteen accused persons were before the court on summary trial on five count charges of Conspiracy to commit felony, unlawful assembly, riotous conduct, Incitement and intimidation contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
It is alleged on count one that on Monday 13th of December 2021 at Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, the accused persons conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit unlawful assembly.
In count two to count five, the state alleges that all accused persons unlawfully assembled, behaved in a riotous manner, used inciting words and intimidated peaceful citizens.
Led in evidence by sergeant 9139 Mohamed Lahai, Prosecution witness number two Sergeant 9823 Brima Turay attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Central Police Station in Freetown said he knows the complainant, Assistant Superintendent of police John Momoh now Superintendent. He said he also recognizes all the accused persons.
He recalled on the 13th December 2021. He said he was on duty at the Criminal Investigation Department Central Police Station when his boss handed over to him a case of an enquiry file containing a report of Superintendent John Momoh of a case of unlawful assembly, riotous conduct and disorderly behavior.
The case of an enquiry file containing the report was produced and tendered in court and marked as exhibit A1-3. According to the report he obtained statements from witnesses.
At this stage the prosecution sought for a short adjournment date.
Counsel representing the accused persons objected to the application made by the prosecution that the accused persons are coming from Kono to attend court sittings in Freetown.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 18th August 2022 for further hearing
