Passengers (Inbound and Outbound) passing through the Freetown International Airport at Lungi will effective 1st September, 2022 begin to pay an Airport Security Fee of US$25 each way. Government will effective tomorrow cease to pay for the security services provided at the airport for passengers. Passengers are expected to meet the cost of the said services.
Since 2016, the Government of Sierra Leone has been meeting the cost of security services provided by Securiport at the Freetown International Airport. Initially, Government was paying US$40 to Securiport for each and every passenger passing through the Freetown International Airport.
The payment of US$25 can be made through the following payment facilities: Orange Money, AfriMoney and Online or through EcoBank, UBA and SLCB.
