The National Civil Registration Authorityโ€™s new Board Chairman, Sorie Fofana, has emphasized team work and the Board’s commitment to support the administration and staff in delivering the Authorityโ€™s mandate at his inaugural meeting Thursday September 8.
“The central plank of my message was for team work and for the Director General to continue to provide leadership in the day-to-day management of the authority. I encouraged him to work very hard to get the vendors to deliver on the rehabilitation of the Authority’s head office at Kingharman Road and the start of the issuance of ID cards both national and ECOWAS. I assured the DG that the Board will support whatever decision he takes as long as it is in the best interest of the Authorityโ€, Fofana said at the weekend following the meeting.
At the meeting, he thanked the Board, Management and Staff of NCRA for the hard work they have been doing and for the unflinching support they gave to his predecessor and promised to build on the successes she achieved. Fofana is succeeding Madam Sia Elizabeth Tongu who passed away June 14.
He said he was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with an array of professionals on the Board from respective fields of discipline.
โ€œI want to assure you that, I intend to work closely with all of you to fulfil the vision of His Excellency the President Dr Julius Maada Bio and the Government he heads. As Chairman, my role is to ensure that decisions taken by the Board of Authority are in the best interests of the Authorityโ€.
He said his leadership style is anchored on fairness, common sense and as a hands-on Chairman, his focus will be on overseeing the sound and proper financial management of the Authority.
He thanked the Director General and his team for giving NCRA the visibility it deserves through hard work and commitment.
When Parliament approved Fofanaโ€™s appointment earlier in August, Mohamed MASSAQUOI, NCRAโ€™s Director General described the appointment as another unique opportunity provided to the Management and staff of the NCRA by H.E. President Dr Julius Maada Bio to have a dynamic, experienced and highly respected man like Mr. Sorie Fofana to serve as Chairman of our Board. โ€œMr. Fofanaโ€™s experience will add value to our work and the support we receive from other existing members of the Board with varying backgrounds and experienceโ€.
