Members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) are set to commence the 13th National Delegates Conference of the party today at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown with the theme โ€˜Towards A Radical Transformation: Counting the Gains Since 2018.

At a press conference held yesterday at the Harry Yansaneh Hall, Campbell Street, the National Secretary General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Umaru Napoleon Koroma told journalists that the objective of the Delegates Conference is to help the members better appreciate the achievements of the SLPP led government since it assumed the reins of power in 2018 .

In addition, he stated that the conference will also provide a platform for members to contribute to the party’s Manifesto for the June 2023 Elections noting that “This is not an elective conference, the 8th and 9th is going to be a true spirit of democracy.”

“Since it came to power in 2018, the resolve of the SLPP led government has been to invest in human capital development and build a progressive society that embraces every citizen’s aspiration .This aligns with the Party’s belief that a political party should have its foundation to advance a cause that is right and just, otherwise, it is merely a conspiracy to seize power,” he stated.

In his statement, the National Public Relations Officer of the Party, Lahai Lawrence Leema said the Leader of the SLPP (President Dr Julius Maada Bio) believes in the principles of democracy, therefore, he is going to use the ceremony to talk to the delegates in relation to what he has done over the last five years in governance by presenting his score card to the people.

On the other hand, the delegates he said, will have the opportunity to make inputs in relation to the Party’s 2023 Manifesto, which is going to be the document they’re going to present to Sierra Leoneans ahead of the June 2023 elections.

The Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swarray underscored that the conference is going to showcase the democratic nature of the SLPP, and also the transparency and accountability side ofย  President Bio’s leadership.

From the Office of the Leader of the Party, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi called on the media to help spread the message of development, progress and hope, which the SLPP as a party has given Sierra Leoneans.

Other speakers also made important contributions, as the questions and answers session climaxed the occasion.
