In February 2018, the SLPP Presidential hopeful, Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio, presented an ambitious manifesto for election to the Office of President. Human capital development through free quality education was highlighted in the SLPP 2018 Manifesto as Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio’s flagship project once he got elected to office.
When he was elected as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in April 2018, Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio kept to his manifesto commitment by allocating 21% of the national budget to the education sector. The figures speak for themselves.
Even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of President Bio kept to its manifesto commitment of implementing in full, the free quality education program which includes the school feeding program.
The salaries and wages of government employees were paid without any delay.
The sound management of the economy kept the country up and running. Even with the Russian/Ukraine war that led to global supply chain disruptions, Sierra Leoneans had enough supply of essential commodities including the staple food (rice), flour, sugar, fuel, vegetable oil etc in the open market. No shortages were reported across the country. That’s the reality!
The APC Presidential candidate, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, is promising the earth, if elected President in June. He knows very well that he cannot be able to achieve the things he is promising the electorate now. He is just a dishonest man. He is untrustworthy, deceitful and insincere in his campaign to become President of Sierra Leone.
On 24th June, 2023 the electorate have a clear choice to make between fantasy and reality. Dr Samura Kamara represents fantasy. All his promises are unlikely to happen because, he is not trusted by the electorate.
In the last five years, President Brig. (Rtd) Dr Julius Maada Bio has shown that he is honest, open, direct and sincere with the electorate. That’s why the people up and down this country now refer to him as TOK&DO”.
On 24th June, 2023 the electorate should be mindful of the gap between fantasy and reality. Mind the gap, please!
