The attention of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has been drawn to an audio making the rounds on social media attributed to the All Peoples Congress (APC) National Secretary General – Lansana Dumbuya Esq., and the former Chairman of the APC Western Area Rural District Council – Holland Kashow-Cole.
The said audio contains vile threats to embark on nationwide demonstrations if the concerns and demands of the All People’s Congress directed to the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone are not addressed.
The Sierra Leone Police views such threats as inappropriate and counterproductive especially during this electioneering period. Accordingly, the Sierra Leone Police reminds all citizens including Lansana Dumbuya Esq. and all political parties of the provisions of Part II of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 relating to processions in Sierra Leone.
The Sierra Leone Police encourages all citizens and political parties to address concerns and grievances through engagement and judicial process and not violent threats which have the potential to undermine national security.
The Sierra Leone Police wishes to reassure citizens of its unwavering commitment to discharge its statutory responsibility to preserve law and order within the State.
Therefore, the Sierra Leone Police calls on all and sundry to remain calm, peaceful, and to go about their normal lawful business.
