A senior civil servant at State House has clarified that, the rank of a Cabinet Minister does not make anyone a member of the Cabinet. He added that they cannot attend Cabinet meetings but they carry the privileges and courtesies (as and when available) accorded a member of the Cabinet.

According to the unnamed civil servant, those who carry the rank of Cabinet Ministers are expected to carry themselves in a dignified and sober manner at all times.

He added that, the title of a Cabinet rank does not attract any financial reward.
