Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Saturday 3 February 2024 – Sierra Leoneโ€™s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Rashid Sesay has been unanimously appointed by his colleagues as the new Dean of The African Group of Ambassadors in the UAE.
The African Group of Ambassadors is one of the biggest diplomatic blocs in the UAE. In his new capacity, Ambassador Sesay will be leading coordination of the affairs of the bloc with a membership of over thirty African Ambassadors in the gulf-state.
At a well-attended event in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, Ghanaian Ambassador to the UAE, Ahmed Ramadan congratulated his colleague on the assumption of the leadership role saying that he was excited about Ambassador Sesayโ€™s initiatives to make the Group effective and stronger. He assured that they would support him to deliver on the Groupโ€™s mandates.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sesay thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to lead the bloc, while noting that with more engagements they could build on the great ideas for the interest of Africa. He also spoke on the strong relationship between the UAE and the African continent.
โ€œWe need to continue building on this unity as we can only get better with unity. We all have various skills which we need to bring together for the general good. I look forward to working with everyone,โ€ the new Dean added.
The event was attended by Ambassadors and representatives from twenty-eight African countries.
