The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has announced significant progress in its ongoing investigations into the armed robbery incidents in Bo and Kenema, which resulted in the death of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu in Kenema and left Mr. John Lamina seriously injured in Bo.
Police confirmed that six suspects have been arrested during intensified operations. Those in custody include: Gbassay Swarray, alias Success, previously linked to a murder case in Moyamba; Joseph Kamagy Kamara, alias Shine; Martin Sallu, an ex-convict; Joseph Bangalie, alias Boika, also an ex-convict for felonious offences; Foday Sallu and Foday Hassan Sesay, a receiver found in possession of one of Mr. Laminaโ€™s stolen items.
According to the SLP, the suspects were apprehended with firearms and other housebreaking implements.
In a separate incident, a Sierra Leonean was arrested at Lungi International Airport for possession of unlawful substances. Police say investigations into both matters are ongoing, while a manhunt has been launched for other fugitives still at large in connection with the robberies.
The SLP expressed appreciation to members of the public for their continued cooperation, urging them to share timely and relevant information to help guarantee public safety and security.
