Following his district and regional tour of some NCRA offices across the country, and his direct engagement with some community leaders, the Chairman of NCRA Board of Authority, Sorie Fofana, has been urged by some community leaders to fully decentralize services provided by the institution.

In Kono district, Chairman Fofana held face-to-face and frank discussions with the District Registration Officer of NCRA, Daniel Matturi. Mr Matturi underscored the urgent need to deploy mobile teams or establish outlets in some hard-to-reach chiefdoms in Kono district.

The DRO Kono, Mr Matturi, disclosed that, one of their major challenges is mobility and lack of enough manpower.
He however noted that, they have been moving to some difficult areas just to provide services for their people.

Similar challenges were highlighted by the Regional Registration Officers in the East, Northeast and Northwestern regions.

All the District Registration Officers called on the Board and Management of NCRA to ensure that, services provided by the Authority are fully decentralized to lessen the burden on citizens from having to travel all the way from Buedu in Kailahun District to Freetown just to have typographical errors or spelling of names or names mismatch corrected. โ€œWe think, these corrections can easily be done at district or regional levelsโ€, they said.

Some local authorities in the Northeast and Northwestern regions also pleaded with Chairman Fofana to ensure that, all services provided by NCRA are decentralized at chiefdom levels across the country.

Chairman Fofana assured them that, the Board and senior Management of NCRA would take a serious look at all the concerns raised and challenges highlighted and take appropriate steps to speedily address what he called โ€˜the low-hanging fruitsโ€.

He thanked the hardworking staff of NCRA for giving their best to the institution under some very difficult working conditions.

Chairman Fofana assured them that, the issue of staff welfare was being jointly addressed by the Board and senior Management of NCRA.

He thanked the NCRA mobile teams and volunteers that are moving around the country for their dedication, hard work and selfless service to the nation and the institution.
